WORK WITH ME
Individual and Couples Counseling
How to get started
01 — Free 15-Minute Consultation
Book a free consultation call with me! We’ll chat to see if we’re a good fit for each other.
02 — Set Your Session
If we’re a therapeutic match and decide to work together, I’ll schedule our first session. We’ll decide on date, time and virtual or in-person.
03 — Intake Paperwork
I’ll send you the intake paperwork that you’ll need to complete before our first session.
04 — First Session
The first session may feel a little different than other sessions. It will likely be a lot of information gathering. You’ll share what brought you to therapy and we’ll start to explore further. It’s normal to feel nervous or unsure in the first session, especially if therapy is new for you! We will ease into it and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Not sure if we’re a good fit?
As with any relationship, the connection between a therapist and client is important! It may take a little time to build trust as we work together. I’m not the right fit for everyone, and that’s okay! Below are a few things that might help you decide if my approach aligns with you…
Probably yes, if you:
Prefer a less structured, more exploratory approach
Want a therapist that is laid back and who values your innate wisdom
Are curious to explore your adoption identity
Feel like this might take time, and you’re okay with that
Are open to including body connection and creativity (coloring, doodling, etc) in our work
Possibly not, if you:
Love a strict plan and lots of homework
Want a therapist who gives direct advice rather than collaborating
Are looking for something more short term
Know you don’t want to explore creative or body-based approaches

It varies by individual based on your goals. Some folks come in with a specific concern and others find new layers they want to explore and want ongoing support. My work tends to be relational and reflective, so if you're hoping for a few quick sessions and a checklist, I might not be the best fit. That said, we’ll talk openly and regularly about how it’s going.

Our first session will be more information gathering and covering the logistics of therapy. We'll talk about what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and begin exploring what’s been showing up in your world.

As part of my licensure requirement and my own personal development I receive regular supervision from Smruti Desai, LMHC, LPC.
I have ongoing consultation with a group of adoption competent therapists and I am also a member of the Shelterwood Collective, a Seattle-based organization of mental health professionals who share resources, values, and community.
I value the importance of staying connected to peers and advisors to ensure I provide the best care for my clients.
